REBUILD will begin its journey in this third edition of 2020 with a long-awaited participation, that of the General Director of Urban Agenda and Architecture. Iñaki Carnicero also has a professional curriculum like this: he is an Architect and an international doctor from the E.T.S.A.M. where he has been Associate Professor for 12 years until 2012, which begins a new stage as Visiting Professor at Cornell University in the USA. Since then he has been a guest speaker and critic at various universities such as Harvard GSD, MIT, Rice, Berkeley, Columbia, Cooper Union, Buffalo, AIA NY, Hong Kong University, Politecnico de Milano, Roma Tre, ETH de Zurich, KTH de Estocolomo among others. His professional work combines research, teaching and the practice of architecture. The work carried out in the study has mainly been the result of obtaining the first prize in public competitions, highlighting among them the Polytechnic Building of the San Pablo CEU Foundation, Social Housing in Vallecas 29, Nave 16 Matadero-Madrid, Building of the Prosecutor’s Office of the new Campus of Justice of Madrid, Cantarranas Sports Center in the University City of Madrid, the IES Don Bosco in Albacete, as well as other works such as the restoration of the Arab tower in Riba de Saelices, the Pitch house or the new headquarters of “English for Fun” in Madrid. His work has been internationally recognized with awards such as the Golden Lion at the 2016 Venice Biennale, Ñ Award of the year in recognition of the architect of the year 2016, AIA New York Housing Design Award 2015, Hauser Award 2012, Design Vanguard 2011, Premio FAD for architecture 2012, FAD Award for public opinion 2012, COAM Award 2012, finalist in the Architectural Digest Awards 2009, Selected for the BSI University of Mendrisio 2007 awards, Highly commended Emerging Architecture Award and Barbara Capuchin Special Mention 2013. In the year 2009 she obtained the MAEC scholarship for a one-year stay at the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome where she developed her doctoral thesis entitled: “Kahn and Venturi: Coincidences from Gianicolo to Chestnut Hill” and qualified with CUM LAUDE unanimously in 2015. Since in 2008 he shared an office with Lorena de Río, with whom he founded RICA studio (www.ricastudio.com) with double headquarters in Madrid and New York. And now he has in his hands the future of Architecture and Construction of cities.
